Agriculture/AG - IAI Major Course Recommendations

Agriculture encompasses a variety of specialties, including Agribusiness, Agricultural Sciences (Animal Science, Crop Science, Soil Science, and Horticulture), Agricultural Mechanization, and Agricultural Education. Because not all institutions offer every specialty, students should work closely with an Agriculture advisor when selecting courses and planning their program of study.

Agriculture Specialties

Students interested in other agriculture-related fields—such as Agricultural Communications, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science, Nutrition and Hospitality Management, Forestry, International Policy and Trade, or Natural Resources, Conservation, and Environmental Studies—should consult an advisor at their intended institution for guidance on appropriate coursework and transfer preparation.

Many community colleges offer specialized Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) programs in Agriculture. Some of these programs transfer to specific universities through 2+2 or capstone agreements. Because A.A.S. pathways vary by institution, they are not described here. Students should consult their intended transfer institution to determine how courses and degrees will transfer.
