Chemical Engineering Discipline Course Recommendations
The courses listed below, in addition to the prerequisite coursework, are recommended for students who plan to begin their studies at one Illinois institution and transfer to another to complete a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. These recommendations are intended to support successful transfer and timely progress toward the major. Students should consult with an academic advisor early and regularly when planning their coursework.
Students should note that Chemical Engineering programs in Illinois are currently offered only at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Students interested in this field are strongly encouraged to work closely with advisors and their intended transfer institution to ensure they meet program-specific requirements.

Chemical Engineering Core Courses (11-14 semester credits)
CHM 912 - Chemistry II (4-5 semester credits)
CHM 913 - Organic Chemistry I with lab (4-5 semester credits)
CHM 914 - Organic Chemistry II with lab (3-4 semester credits)
Students should complete entire course sequences at the same school before transfer, since topics are covered in different orders by different schools.
