IAI Major Course Description - MC924 : Basic Animation

(3 semester credits)

An introduction to the concepts, processes and history of animation, covering both traditional and two-dimensional computer-based animation techniques, and incorporate the use of drawn, vector, and bitmapped formats as a means of generating animated sequences. Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the basic history of animation
  • understand and apply the principles of 2-dimensional animation
  • complete scripts and develop effective storyboards
  • apply keyframing and tweening techniques
  • Demonstrate effective use of synchronizing sound, color, composition, and continuity in animated sequences
  • demonstrate output techniques and prepare sequences for distribution
