3.    IAI Major directive responses:

a.    Review of Round 1 responses
b.    Krista will send comments via email from “no” responses, and work over summer to get those to “yes” responses.
c.    Some courses at upper level at institutions we won’t be able to fix to transfer credits as course is major not elective from “no” response schools

4.    Statewide Transfer Updates
a.    Major Directive caused attention in Illinois for Articulation Issues. Senate Bill 00059 is tabled for now, but will come back
b.    P 20 Initiative – Board of Higher Education – is going forward
c.    Recommendation to keep checking IBHE website
                                          i.    Lists Public Agenda
                                         ii.    P 20 Council
iii.    All Higher Ed things going on in IL
                                       iv.    Legislation

5.    Legislation update – SB 00059

a.    Web site complaint area is a good way to collect problem information about transfers.
b.    Can the panel get a summary of related questions/complaints? Contact Krista
c.    Legislations could change how transfer works within Illinois.
d.    Senator Silverstein used legislation from California that had no program like IAI. He basically replaced California with Illinois in the bill.
e.    SB 00059 basically says that if a student has his/her Associates degree, they are given some measure of security when transferring to a 4 year school, at the Jr. level.
f.     Unintended consequences:
                                          i.    Major may not be open
ii.    Better to transfer before Associate level reached

6.    Other items:
a.    IAI Policies and Procedures Manual being updated, hopefully completed in November.
b.    Krista reviewed the new facelift to the website being prepared, hopefully for deployment in the new year.
c.    Request for the link to the End/Change a Course Form:
d.    Northern IL Univ. has 2 new Mobile Programming Courses (covering smartphones), then next Fall plans to offer the Mobile Programming at both the Graduate and Undergraduate levels.
                                          i.    Moraine Valley is also doing something similar
e.     Discrete Structures - ACM/IEEE info http://www.sigcse.org/resources/documents/pdfs/DiscreteMathReport.pdf

This is a 2007 report from the ACM SIGCSE (CompSci Education) which has some nice details we can incorporate into the objectives for IAI CS 915.

Thanks!
Brad Helm

7.    Krista will pull for review all courses for 5 Institutions to be voted on in the Spring.

8.    Next meeting will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at either ISU Alumni Center or Heartland Comm. College. The Fall meeting will be held Friday, October 5, 2012.
