  1. Introductions
  1. Personnel Changes: Malinda Aiello has rejoined the IAI team and she is now managing panels on behalf of the IBHE.
  2. New Member:  Introduced Todd Simeone from Heartland Community College to the panel.


  1. Training, Orientation & Updates

A.  New Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Everyone on the panel received a copy of the newly revised 2013 IAI Policies
  • It is also available for download at
  • The manual spells out individual responsibilities for all participants in the IAI process
  • The manual details how panel members should conduct a new course review
  • The manual also details the new Ongoing Course Review process

         B.  Panel Member Term Limits


  • We will do a better job of enforcing the 3-year panel member term limit
  • Each semester we will thank departing panel members and welcome new panel members

            C.  iTransfer website changes

  • iTransfer is reprogramming the site to make it more user-friendly
    • The new site will launch in January
    • We will talk more about it during the Spring 2014 meeting
    • 2. = their mobile site is now live

            D.  Course Decision Making Criteria

  • The panel discussed the current criteria and determined everything is still current; no changes needed at this time.

A.  New Courses

  • Discussed issue of language not being specified for identifiers 911 & 912.  Trying to determine need to do so since these are sequence courses.
  • Discussed the possibility of creating two specializations under the major: 1) IT, and 2) Programming.  Note that Programming specialty may require two tracks for C++ and Java.  Will continue the conversation at a later time.
  • Ted Mims from UIS announced that he may be retiring next year.

  • Ed Martig received a certificatesof appreciation in recognition of his long service on the IAI Computer Science panel.
