      2. Discussion among members re inviting Megan Bassett with Women Employed to meet with our group so that she can see there is a system in place that is working
        1. Invite her to TC meeting?  Too soon – it is next week
        2. Form a group at TC meeting to organize questions for her with a smaller group?
        3. Invite IAC Committee?  Steering Committee?
    4. IBHE meeting is today
      1. Academic Leadership Group normally meets a week or so before Board meeting
      2. Kris Young brought up Associate of Science degree, presented it well
      3. 4 year Academic Leaders will provide their campus feedback by the next meeting – Late May
      4. Marilyn expressed that what pleased everyone at Leadership meeting is that Students get their Associate of Science degree, but a 4 year institution could require other GenEd hours after transferring

  1. IAI/iTransfer Discussion Items & Updates (Janice Leuchtenberg & Jess Ray reporting for Krista)
    1. Panel Meetings administered by Krista will be finished at the end of next week
      1. Engineering meeting is this Thursday (4/12) – they want to further discuss the AES degree
    2. GECC Communication Panel plans to present to Steering their proposal for an Online Speech Class
    3. Summer Projects
      1. Panel Related Documents Page – exploring the possibility of “cleaning up” this long page by placing links to representative syllabi on course description pages
      2. Audit of Full Participant Institutions – we will want to have help from the boards in communicating to those who don’t respond and don’t have a full package
    4. Abhilasha is exploring possible changes to the website re better reaching our audience (students)
    5. RE pending possible legislation about Transfer – Arizona has legislation.  They are looking for an Executive Director.  They have 10 Community Colleges and 3 4-yr Institutions.  Position will cost the state $85,000-95,000 per year, starting pay.
    6. Malinda – Complaints area on website – should we have a link for a positive comment?

  1. IAI Retreat in February
    1. What do we think our next steps should be?
      1. There was a lot of discussion but no consensus.  Concerns that there is no trust between panel members and institutions re adequacy of courses.
      2. Concerns that many courses are being returned because there aren’t enough “slots” on submission for all panel required documents
      3. Major difference between Major courses and GECC courses.
        1. Major panel decisions are similar to faculty – fit the course to the receiving institution.
        2. GECC courses fit to the course description
        3. Another way to describe
          1. Major – course to course
          2. GECC – course to requirement
      4. GECC has lost purpose – too much detail requested.  One member sat with TC at her institution to see how the process works.  A (Major) Physics course prepared for submission in minutes.  GECC Science course took 40 hours to prepare.  Shouldn’t the process be more like the Form 13 process in simplicity?
      5. We’ve lost perspective of our original intentions when IAI was formed
      6. “Breath of Fresh Air” is wonderful.  Is it achievable?
      7. Guidelines for reviewing courses needs to be put in Policies & Procedures Manual.  We aren’t changing anything – this is the way it was always intended to be.
        1. “Best Practices” separate for 5 year Review from a new course.
    2. Suggested that everyone pick an issue, write up their concerns and suggestions.

  1. Discussion Items From Others
    1. Timeline for 5 yr Review
      1. Can’t be accomplished as is
      2. Is 7 yr better?
      3. Why do faculty want to look at every course?  This wasn’t the intention.
      4. This is an issue for Steering Panel.  Panels need guidance from them.

  1. Transfer Coordinator Meeting is next Tuesday (4/17/12) at ISU Alumni Center, Room 118.  Fall Meeting tentatively scheduled for November 13.

  1. A summer IAC meeting is desired. The cafeteria at Lincoln College is not open in the summer.  Janice will try to schedule at ISU’s Alumni Center.  If so, Jess volunteered to provide lunch – tentatively scheduled for July 18, 2012

Fall IAC Meeting scheduled for November 6 at Lincoln College.
